How CS2 Ranks Work (2026)
CS2 does not have one ladder, it has three worth knowing. Premier is the main numeric CS Rating system, Competitive gives you a rank per map, and FACEIT is the separate third-party platform serious players use. This guide breaks down all three, how placements work, and where players actually sit.
Premier: The CS Rating Ladder
Premier gives you one universal CS Rating from 1,000 to 30,000+, shown in seven color tiers. It is the ladder most players think of as their real rank, and your rating moves up and down with wins and losses, weighted by round difference and performance.

Yellow at 30,000+ is reserved for near-professional players and less than 0.1% of the playerbase.
Competitive: 18 Per-Map Ranks
Competitive uses the classic 18 ranks from Silver I up to Global Elite, but the rank is tied to each map separately. It only takes 2 wins to get a rank on a map, so it is the fastest way to see a badge, even if Premier is where most of the grind happens.
FACEIT: The Third-Party Platform
FACEIT runs outside the official client with its own level system from 1 to 10, based on its own ELO. Many committed players grind FACEIT for cleaner servers, an anti-cheat layer, and stronger matchmaking than Premier offers at the same skill level.
Placements and Where Players Sit
Premier hides your rating until you win 10 placement matches, and the result depends on how those games go. The average CS Rating sits around 11,000 (Blue), with most of the playerbase clustered between 5,000 and 15,000. Crossing 10,000 already puts you above average.
